Review Page for NavyCraft Servers

Since the shutdown of Naval Battlezone, a number of servers utilizing the Navycraft plugin have been established. This page goes over the specifics of each server. While not getting into personal opinions about the servers, it states what they offer in terms of game play.

NavalClash

  • Description
A Network type server, where the central navycraft game is set up for Faction Warfare and Vehicle Combat, with a main spawn and a moderately size world for factions to play on. The network also offers mini-games such as AcidIsland, Dwarf vs Zombies, and a creative server which allows players to access older version schematic files and use Worldedit to build massive structures on an expansive plot. In addition to their main world, they also feature an Arcade world where points and cost do not count, allowing for unlimited play with navycraft based vehicles. The server also features a Shipyard World for construction of vehicles, and various venues to spawn them in (Ship & Aircraft Spawners). Other types such as Tanks must be spawned mounted on spawned vehicles, such as Ship, or rarely, Aircraft. The server started similarly as NBZ sharing virtually the same worlds, spawns and public vehicles as the original. This lasted until April 2018, when it was changed to the Island set up, which differs dramatically from NBZ's traditional game play. Additionally, the Island Update saw the expansion of Ranks from Enlisted E1 Seaman, to Fleet Admiral. It spans 29 ranks overall.
  • Background
Perhaps the most popular of the active navycraft servers, NavalClash opened in May 2017, shortly after NBZ's final shutdown. The server is owned by DroopyStarfish, who provides the money for server upkeep. Many of the early founders of navycraft servers pulled together to help this server get established. However, disagreements between the various leadership and ownership has caused problems for both the player base and server itself.

Setup

  • Game Play
Players spawn their vehicles and usually try to encounter opposing players, gaining Experience points to achieve additional rank points if they win a battle. The main focus of the server is vehicle combat, but player combat is also very popular.

Economics

  • Economics
Players have multiple methods of earning money.
  • PayDay : Main source of ingame currency for players, each time a player logs in (per server day), they receive their rank's designated paycheck.
  • Outpost Conquest : Players must work either team to conqueror a set of 4 outposts across the map. Staying within the outpost bounties will yield money to the occupants.
  • Cargo Trade / Trade Routes : Individual Players can go on cargo runs between the Outposts and deliver items to the various outposts to yield cash. This is another primary method of making money on the server.
  • Player Stores : While not a steady stream of revenue, a player can earn some money for sought out raw materials or customized items they can sell in the Market Store. Plots are available for purchase, they can be used for both extra production of goods, as well as the selling of items.
  • Voting : Players can receive 2,000 in player currency for voting for the server.

Summary

  • Summary
As of this writing (May 2018) it is a Active server, with a relatively steady population. However, after the what appears to be a rushed Island Update (April 2018) bugs with game play in the new world and setup persist, and some players are unhappy with the changes. The Creative server is isolated from the "live" game server, thus anything made here remains in the creative world.

IronSeas

  • Description
A 1.12 MC version of Navycraft (custom) - Similar setup to Naval Battlezone (Shipyard, WW1) - Expanded vehicle selections. These expanded versions include use of airships, Tank2's and other developments that were not actively used on NBZ's later years of it's history. IronSeas' World has a Shipyard where players may build their own vehicles if they choose to, or use a Public ship (rental) for their combat needs.
  • Background
Created shortly after when Naval Battlezone closed April 2017, this server is run by Solmex. He is a coder by trade, and had originally teamed up with other people who were trying to pool their resources to build a new Naval Battlezone. However over the course of time Solmex had issues with how the Server would and would split off to ultimately re-establish Iron Seas with various veteran players from NBZ.

Setup

  • Game Play
Players spawn their vehicles and usually try to encounter opposing players, gaining Experience points to achieve additional rank points if they win a battle. Players can form factions and claim land, with additional members expanding land they can own and protected to a degree by world guard unless a Faction declares war.

Economics

  • Economics
Paydays are gained per-login per-server day, supplemental pay can be gained by sinking ships.

Summary

  • Summary
Server allows for more options, while keeping to the original forumla of game play NBZ was known for. However, as of this (May, 2018) Iron Seas has low active population.
  • UPDATE:*

Server Population has increased dramatically, due to server being posted on the Planet Minecraft webpage.

Dabblecraft

  • Description
The server uses a 1.12.2 variant of Navycraft (Custom) called the NavyCraft Plugin Mavenized version - This active version of navycraft varies from the original developed by Maximuspayne. Dabblecraft 2.0 is a role play server that uses both navycraft and movecraft. The server uses navycraft for all sea related activities, but Aircraft in Dabblecraft use the more primitive movecraft versions, and are referred to as airskiffs.

Setup

  • Game Play

Economics

Summary

  • Summary
A different kind of server, roleplaying is heavily encouraged instead of the typical World War II-style mentality of traditional Naval Battlezone. Players who are used to arcade may be slightly put off by this style of server.

Scarlet Oceans

  • Description
Running 1.12 Navycraft Lite - Terrariola's Scarlet Oceans is a Survival/Faction server using the old NBZ Spawn and Map from 2015. Originally the server was named Crimson Tide.
  • Background
Originally Terariola's personal server, it was opened to the public as a replacement for TechCorp 4, a completely unrelated Minecraft server opened in late 2017.

Setup

  • Game Play
Opened in April 2018, the map is 2016 Permafaction map, which is giant sea in center of the map, while land is on the outskirts. Disease and sickness spigots have been added. Making it challenging to players who wish to try to play hardcore without significant assistance from the server. Player/factions fight for resources as their used up, salvage of sunken ships for resources is encouraged, and ships are (usually) built in the wild. Limited spawning of vehicles is possible, but greatly discouraged.

Economics

  • Economics
Bartering, raiding, using the money generators scattered throughout spawn, and farming nether warts.

Summary

  • Summary
While still being very new, and harboring a virtually non-existant player base, the premise is different than the original NBZ setup, making it interesting to players who want the NBZ style combat, while preferring a different type of economy, and more of a raw survival experience supplemented with Navycraft.
